Today started off with me pulling up to preschool and realizing I had forgotten Caden’s backpack! That was not the worst part. The backpack had his water and snack for the morning! Of course the mom guilt set in, even though the secretary assured me that they would make sure he had a snack. Then I decided to finally get my butt into gear and decorate our house for Christmas (by the way, that is still not complete). One of the first pieces I pulled out of the box was a ceramic piece with the words “Believe” spelled out with a Christmas scene across the top. The star on the tree has been broken for a couple of years (yikes), but I finally had superglue to fix it. So out came the superglue, and after that I spent the next several hours attempting to remove the glue from my skin. That was after I forcefully removed the little yellow star that was trying to make itself a permanent part of my skin. Don’t worry, I was left with an imprint of the yellow star as a reminder of my carelessness when using superglue! I did pick up a fantastic tip from the secretary at school, if you ever get superglue on your skin, make a paste of water and salt and rub your skin until it is removed. Then it was on to pick up Jacob. I am really attempting to keep my car clutter free, because as any parent knows that is nearly impossible with children! So as I was throwing out random wrappers, I decided to toss my keys (and keep the trash) into the bottom of our nasty outside garbage can. Thankfully the garbage had just been picked up (sense the sarcasm), so those keys really touched every surface of that germ filled, smelly can. Thank God for hand sanitizer because at that point I was also late for school pickup and that was about all I had to clean my hands and keys!
At the end of the day, I had to remind myself that my children were clothed, fed, and safe in bed and that is all that matters on days when everything seems to go south!
